An American gamer building his own computer ordered an SSD from Amazon. But when it came time to unpack his order, he got a surprise he hadn’t expected at all. How to react if this happens to you?

Deciding to personally assemble your first computer is always a process tinged with a little apprehension and excitement. In practice, building a PC is not that complicated, but we are always a bit afraid of making a mistake. However, by choosing the right components, you maximize the chances that everything will go well.

Reddit user Huntsey1995 decided to embark on this adventure. Among the components he has chosen is a Samsung 980 PRO NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD with 1TB capacity which he ordered on Amazon. Only, when unpacking his package, he was surprised to find not one, but ten SSDs there! He posted a simple photo on which we see the result of a loot that he never wanted to receive, but which, nevertheless, is under his nose.

It receives 10 SSDs instead of one from Amazon

The user has received many messages following the publication of his discovery . Some Internet users do not hesitate to call him “lucky” who will be able to considerably boost the storage space of his new computer, while others suggest that he sell SSDs it doesn’t needto continue financing his machine. It must be said that an SSD of this type currently costs almost 115 euros on Amazonwhich represents more than 1000 euros of unwanted order.

Other netizens believe that Huntsey1995 should return SSDs he didn’t pay for, because it could be considered theft. However, some Amazon customers add that they themselves received duplicate products in their package without ever having had to report to the platform. So what to do in such a situation?

What should we do when we receive products that we did not order?

When we receive an order that is not to our advantage, for example with missing or damaged products, our first instinct is to complain to the merchant. Nevertheless, when the delivery is in our favor, our reaction may be different. So the question arises: what to do when you receive too many products, or a package with a higher value than expected?

The answer may vary significantly depending on the country in which this situation takes place. In France, article 121-12 of the Consumer Code stipulates that he “It is prohibited to demand immediate or deferred payment for goods or services provided by a professional or, in the case of goods, to demand their return or retention, without these having been subject to ‘a prior order from the consumer’. But when it comes to an honest mistake, it’s Article 1376 of the Civil Code which tends to apply : if the delivery does not correspond to the order, then the order prevails, and you should therefore not keep the products received in excess.

Thereby, if you decide to keep the products received in error and the merchant notices, he may ask you to send them back or refund them . If you are unable to do so, you risk legal action. Therefore, it is better to avoid any problem and return the products concerned.or, at least, keep them as they are in case they are claimed from you.
