The Amira Bouraoui case continues to experience twists and turns, the latest being the arrest of her mother Khadidja, and her sister Wafa, last night at their home in Oued Romane by the services of the gendarmerie of El Achour.

Indeed, yesterday, Saturday February 11, 2023, the mother and sister of Amira Bouraoui were arrested by the gendarmerie of El Achour, according to the National Committee for the Release of Detainees (CNLD).

Wafa Bouraoui had denounced on social networks what she described as “pressure” from the security services on her family here in Algiers. Writing “Sending us two days in a row, late at night, undercover agents to pressure us with an elderly and sick mother is just unconscionable. I understand better why my sister preferred to leave.

According to the same source, during the morning of today, the services of the gendarmerie carried out the search of the family home, located in Oued Romane.

After several hours, Wafa Bouraoui was released around 5 a.m., while her mother Khadidja Bouraoui, aged over 70 and sick, was transferred by road to the gendarmerie of the wilaya of Annaba.

Following the transfer of her mother to Annaba, Wafa Bouraoui reacts via her Facebook account, by putting a photo of her with her mother, and as a caption “Where is my mother ???! “.

It should also be noted that in the context of the same case, the journalist Mustapha Bendjama, arrested since February 8, 2023, has seen his police custody extended, at the level of the Al Hattab gendarmerie brigade, in Annaba. But also the arrest of Amira Bouraoui’s cousin at Annaba, says the CNLD.

Arrived in France on Monday February 6, 2023, the activist and political opponent and Franco-Algerian journalist, Amira Bouraoui will have succeeded in creating new tensions in relations between France and Algeria. The latter was first arrested in Tunisia on February 3 at the airport when she wanted to board for France and risked deportation to Algeria, where she should have served a two-year prison sentence.
