in the plant of BMW Group of San Luis Potosí, where the German company will invest 800 million euros to start the production of electric vehicles and lithium batteries in 2027, the Chief Executive recalled that in order to face climate change now it is required that fossil fuels are no longer used , that the option is in lithium, in batteries, in chips, in electric cars, that is the future.
Accompanied by senior BMW Group officials, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard and Governor Ricardo Gallardo (PVEM), the President celebrated the automaker’s initiative to anticipate the future.
The German automotive firm will be producing batteries for electric cars in this Mexican plant.
“How good that they are moving forward and have that vision, and it is doubly good that this trial, this new stage begins here in San Luis Potosí, in Mexico.”
He stressed that Mexico has exceptional conditions for investment in the world, which is why the industry is developing and last year a growth of 3% was reported.

“So, you are investing, we thank you very much for your confidence and you have assured the success of this new plant, which means going forward, thinking about the future, they are renewable energies, it is the future of the automotive industry”.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that the investment of one billion dollars will generate a thousand direct jobs in an industry that treats its workers very well.
Milan Nedeljkovic, a member of the BMW Board of Directors, gave details about this million-dollar investment.

Today’s announcement further deepens our roots in Mexico, together we are paving the way for a bright future, the all-electric Neue Klasse made by BMW, made in San Luis Potosí and from Mexico to the world,” he highlighted.
Harald Gottsche, president and CEO of the BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí, said that in 2027 they will start the production of fully electric vehicles and will include a new technology, the assembly of batteries. This makes us the first premium automaker to produce electric vehicles and batteries in Latin America, he said.
