CDMX.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that a rally will be held in the capital’s Zócalo on March 18 to celebrate the Oil Expropriation.

“On March 18 we are going to commemorate one more anniversary of the Oil Expropriation and we are going to do it here in the Zócalo,” he said in a morning conference.

“March 18, because it was a historic decision that has saved us, that patriotic decision of General Lázaro Cárdenas, if it weren’t for that, imagine, if the same oil privatization policy had been followed, we would be, I said it a few years ago days, importing crude oil, because the entire neoliberal period was one of falling and decreasing production, decline of the oil fields, which exhausted them”.

The President assured that it will be a “big” party with the participation of singers.

“A big, big, big act, everyone is invited, we have to defend our sovereignty, we have to defend oil, we have to defend the electricity industry and we are also going to invite our singers, the ones the people like, the people , it’s going to be a party because we rescued Pemex and the Federal Electricity Commission, I apologize in advance to the conservatives, they’re not going to like it,” he said.

He reiterated that in the so-called “neoliberal period” they were against the Oil Expropriation and in favor of foreign companies.
