We were talking to you earlier about Yves Guillemot’s latest statements regarding Ubisoft’s presence at E3 2023 and the group’s delicate start to the year. The announcement of the postponement of Skull and Bones clearly did not help things in early January, but today it is an “improved version” of the piracy game that is being talked about.

A secret version hidden by Ubisoft?

While the first snippets of the game didn’t particularly impress the public, Ubisoft’s chief financial officer, Frederick Duguet, broached the subject of Skull and Bones during Ubisoft’s quarterly financial conference and notably answered the question of ‘a financial analyst asked what sales forecasts were needed for the game to be profitable after such a long development period.

“We said this in January, we were very happy with the playtest we saw in early January, so we have a very strong upgraded version to show players that they haven’t seen yet.

Frederick Duguet mentions a “very solid improved version to show players” and which has never been presented to the public. “So that’s what we’re going to leverage over the next month to give more momentum to the game.” he added.

This may seem reassuring for all the testers who had been able to get their hands on the title and for the public who had seen the first extracts not particularly unforgettable. Could we see the arrival of public playtests soon since Duguet talks about new features “over the coming month”? Nothing is certain at the moment, other than delaying the release of Skull and Bones to Ubisoft’s 2023-24 fiscal year.
