Sonora.- After several days of searching and demonstrations, Jesús Alonso Romero, an 18-year-old university student who disappeared on January 29, was found two days later burned to death in the municipality of Cajeme, in southwestern Sonora.

On January 29, the student of Agricultural Engineering, at the Technological Institute of the Yaqui Valley, was deprived of his liberty when he was going to a baseball game with two friends.

“Their motorcycle broke down at the entrance to Campo 28 (in the rural area of the municipality of Cajeme), an armed group arrived and took them with everything and motorcycle,” his mother told local media.

Jesús Alonso’s friends were released, but nothing was known about the engineering student until the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) confirmed the discovery of his body on February 3.

The FGE confirmed that the charred remains in the town of “El Portón”, in the vicinity of Cócorit, in the Valle del Yaqui area, were those of Romero.

In the area, the remains of another subject were also found.

“Through comparative DNA tests, the identity of the disappeared person was established as positive. The Sonora Prosecutor’s Office continues with the investigations to find the probable perpetrators,” the agency reported.

Jesús Alonso studied in the morning and in the afternoons he helped his mother in a family grocery store.

However, the Prosecutor’s Office assured that the main lines of investigation, through testimonies, show a possible relationship with a criminal group dedicated to the sale of drugs.

“Recently (Jesús Alonso) would have received threats from an antagonistic group,” said the Prosecutor’s Office.

Violence in Cajeme, Sonora, has recently claimed the life of a doctor from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Carlos Ignacio, found dead on February 1 in the town of Yucuribampo.

Last night, after a shooting attack on a car, three people were killed in Cajeme, including the girl Ingrid, barely 2 years old.
