The DualSense Edge is currently not compatible with Android, but this should change in the coming months. Indeed, Android 14 will support the PS5 pro controller which costs a small fortune compared to the competition.

If you have a PlayStation 5 and have bought yourself the DualSense Edge for 239.99 euros, you can use it on your Android smartphone to play mobile games. Android 14 will actually support the DualSense Edge. The customizable controller is of course aimed at pro players, but its compatibility with Android is still a good thing.

AT €239.99, it’s not advisable to buy the DualSense Edge to play on Android, but why not use it if you already have it on hand for the PS5? Anyway, Mishaal Rahman from XDA-Developers discovered support for the PS5’s DualSense Edge in the first Android 14 Developer Preview which is already available to developers.

The DualSense Edge and all its customizable buttons will be compatible with Android 14

Like all pro controllers dedicated to competition, the DualSense Edge is customizable with interchangeable buttons, removable joysticks, commands to customize, etc. Current versions of Android support various wireless controllers like the PS4’s DualShock and the PS5’s standard DualSense, but not the DualSense Edge.

As Mishaal Rahman announced on Twitter, “ Android 14 adds key layout files for the Sony Playstation DualSense Edge controller […] and the SteelSeries Stratus+ “. This means that Android 14 correctly supports the DualSense Edge and all its many buttons. Mishaal Rahman also clarified that Android smartphones will need a hid-PlayStation kernel patch because Sony’s current driver does not work with the DualSense Edge.

Players will therefore be able to enjoy their favorite mobile games with their DualSense Edge. However, these games will not take full advantage of the customizable controls of the premium controller, which has a lower battery life than its big brother. As for Android 14, the release of the stable version is not expected before August, even September. A second Developer Preview will arrive in March, and a beta will then roll out each month from April through July.
