In Gelsenkirchen-Beckhausen, an apartment and the basement of an eight-storey building are on fire. The fire brigade is deployed with 80 forces.
The Gelsenkirchen fire brigade is currently on a large scale operation in Beckhausen: On Stegemannsweg, an apartment on the ground floor of an eight-storey building and the basement are on fire, a fire brigade spokesman reported on Wednesday morning.
Around 4 a.m., local residents reported the fire to the fire department. Since then, around 80 people have been in action. “The extinguishing work is ongoing and will continue,” said the spokesman at around 7 a.m. Photos show thick smoke pouring out of the building.
Six residents were rescued via a turntable ladder, the others could have left the building by other means, according to the fire department. Nobody was injured. (soho)
