It is the first time that Zelenskiy appears in person. Earlier, he appeared on the video monitors in the General Assembly hall.

Russia’s transfer of “tens of thousands” of Ukrainian children to the territories it occupies in Ukraine is “clearly a genocide”, accused the Ukrainian president at the UN on Tuesday, according to AFP.

“We are trying to bring these children back home, but time is running out. What will happen to them? In Russia they are taught to hate Ukraine, and all ties with their families are severed. It is clearly a genocide”, denounced the president, under the gaze of the deputy ambassador of Russia to the UN, Dmitri Polianski, present at the Russian table.

A “world summit for peace”

The Ukrainian president also stated that his country is preparing a “world summit for peace” to which he wants to invite all world leaders who oppose Russia’s “aggression” against Ukraine.

“In Hiroshima, Copenhagen and Jeddah there were important discussions and exchanges on the implementation of a peace plan. And we are preparing a world summit for peace. I invite all of you – all those who do not tolerate aggression – to prepare this summit together,” Zelenski marched in a speech delivered from the UN podium in New York.
