Juarez City.- Authorities from the three levels of government toured the Historic Center of the city on Monday to assess security in the area.

The municipal president, Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, led a tour requested by the Ciudad Juárez Security and Justice Board, in which the municipal public security secretary, César Omar Muñoz; the District Attorney for the Northern Zone, Carlos Manuel Salas, and Brigadier Jorge Alberto Buchan Martínez, commander of the Ciudad Juárez Military Garrison.

The contingent left the parking lot of the Benito Juárez Administrative Unit and walked along Mariscal streets and Vicente Guerrero and Francisco Villa avenues. They also crossed Avenida Juárez and the esplanade of Avenida 16 de Septiembre, reported the municipality of Juárez.

It was said that the objective of the tour was to identify areas of opportunity to improve security in the center of the city.

The mayor noted that some areas of the city center have been improved, but acknowledged that there is still much to do.

He stressed that a tour like this is useful to identify areas of opportunity and work together with security authorities and business organizations.

“I can categorically affirm that the city center has been improved, I also recognize that there is still a long way to go, but a tour like this can be useful to observe areas of opportunity and work together,” said the mayor.

For his part, Rogelio González Alcocer, coordinator of the Security and Justice Board of Ciudad Juárez, said that they seek to coordinate with the authorities to have a much safer downtown area, now with this tour we hope that new ideas will emerge to improve.
