The Banking Associationwhich heads Sergio Palazzo, confirmed a national strike of banks for 24 hours for Thursday, February 23 after the joint meeting with the banking entities in dependencies of the Ministry of Labor failed.
“An agreement was not reached. We have proposed, beyond the percentages and to review the parities of 2022, that the business sector take charge of part of the income tax that workers pay today. The response has been negative,” he said Palazzo from the door of the Ministry of Labor, located at Callao 114 in the City of Buenos Aires, where he gave statements to the press.
Within this framework, the Secretary General of the Banking Association confirmed a total stoppage of activities for 24 hours for Thursday, February 23 and anticipated that if the business sector does not pay attention to the claim, the union will meet “to intensify the measures.”
“We are demanding compensation. As long as there is none, there will be no possible parity that we can agree on,” Palazzo remarked.
In addition, he maintained that it is “the second month” in which a new joint agreement should be in force and that as long as the conflict continues, the workers will “continue to earn the same as in December.”
“Patience has a limit and that is why a measure of force is going to be taken. Each branch will have the power to mobilize in its territory, so there will surely be mobilizations at the doors of the banks,” he completed.
