In just a year and a half, Steffen Baumgart has made himself indispensable at 1. FC Köln. The coach is adored by fans and players alike. Nobody in the cathedral city has to fear that the darling of the public will soon say goodbye.
“There is no talk”Baumgart clarifies to the ‘Express’, but assures with a view to a contract extension: “There won’t be a no from me. What is in my contract now will also be in the next contract. It’s not about more or less.”
Extension currently not an issue
The extension is currently not an issue for the 51-year-old. The contract expires in 2024. For Baumgart, this means that it only has to be extended in the coming season.
“I made a very clear statement: We’re not negotiating anymore – if the club wants me to stay, it’s another year. If everyone says that the work fits, we simply extend it”assures Baumgart and emphasizes: “I certainly have no intention of leaving.”
