Bayer Leverkusen grabs Noah Mbamba from Club Brugge. As the Bundesliga club officially announces, the 18-year-old six is moving to Bayer-Kreuz with immediate effect. The Belgian has signed a contract with Leverkusen until 2028. The teenager only has to pay a manageable fee as his contract in Bruges would have expired at the end of the season.
Sports director Simon Rolfes is proud of the transfer: “Noah Mbamba is one of the great talents in his position as midfield midfielder. He has excellent technique, is tall and fast. If he continues to develop at this level, he and his class will be able to play an important role in our Werkself in the future.”
Mbamba himself describes the change as one “Step into a top league that I’ve always watched from the neighborhood in Belgium. I like German club football and Bayer 04 are known for offering young players the best opportunities to reach the highest level of football. I am really looking forward to the coming years here on the Rhine.”.

Several Premier League clubs had also expressed an interest in Mbamba. The 1.87 meter tall right-footed player has had a steep rise in Bruges in the 2021/22 season. However, after it became clear that the midfield talent would rather let his contract expire, his share of the game fell significantly in the current season. To change that, Leverkusen brought the transfer forward a few months.
