FC Bayern has been awarded the dream player Yann Sommer. As the record champion announces, the 34-year-old has signed a contract on Säbener Straße until 2025. The Munich-based company is reported to have paid a fee of eight million euros for the services of the Swiss, which can increase by a further 1.5 million depending on the success.
The experienced goalkeeper is already looking forward to his new task: “I’m really looking forward to my new role at FC Bayern. It’s a big club with power, we’ve often played against each other – I know about the enormous quality and appeal of this club. I’m proud to be part of FC Bayern now. We have big tasks ahead of us. I am really looking forward to starting with my new colleagues and to everything that is to come. I would like to thank Borussia Mönchengladbach for eight and a half great years and for making this transfer possible.”
Oliver Kahn is happy that the poker game went in favor of Bayern: “Yann Sommer is a valuable reinforcement for us because he has a lot of international experience and has also known the Bundesliga for many years. He has everything he needs to contribute to our success right away. We are sure that we can achieve our goals with Yann Sommer.”
Neuer representation
At Bayern, the 80-time international goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is represented, who will be out at least until the summer due to a broken lower leg. According to ‘Sport1’, there are even doubts in Munich that the 36-year-old will actually be fully fit in time to prepare for the next season. The main reason for the concern is the high level of stress during jump exercises for goalkeepers.
