In solidarity with the actual host, Ukraine, a campaign on the occasion of the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool is calling for people to sing together online and in real life. Choirs, musicians and the public should record and upload the well-known song “With a Little Help from My Friends” by the legendary band Beatles, which hails from the north-west English city, HelpUkraineSong stressed.

Organizers said it was “the perfect way to show support for the country in the face of Russia’s ongoing war of aggression.” At noon on May 13th, when the ESC final takes place in the evening, a flash mob is to perform the song in the Museum of Liverpool. At the same time, campaigns are planned at well-known British sights such as the London Eye Ferris wheel.

The Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra won the ESC in 2022, so Ukraine should actually be hosting the competition this year. Because of the war, however, the event was given to Great Britain, which had taken second place with singer Sam Ryder.
