One day before having to put her shoes under the Christmas tree, Julia Alejandra Oroná received her big surprise from the Three Wise Men by winning the weekly Cartonazo jackpot.
With exultant joy, Julia showed up yesterday afternoon at the EL DIA newsroom with the 15 numbers of the complete Cartonazo coupon. The last numbers she guessed were 39, 26, 85 and 47.
Although the jackpot at stake was 50,000 pesos, she doubled the amount because she presented the four coupons from the previous weeks.
Julia is 55 years old, lives with her husband Oscar in the Obrero de Berisso neighborhood, has three daughters and two granddaughters.
“I’ve been participating in the game for a while, but this is the first time I’ve completed the coupon, on other occasions I was missing two or three numbers,” she said excitedly.
The winner is an employee of a nursing home in La Plata and, although she does not know what she will spend the prize on, she anticipated that she will surely give something to her granddaughters.
In relation to the articles in the newspaper, Julia maintained that the first thing she reads are the police news and funeral notices.
How to take part
It is a matter of matching the numbers published by the newspaper from Saturday to Wednesday with those that each reader has (there are 15 in total) in the coupon that they purchased along with the Friday issue.
In the game there is a chance to further enlarge the jackpot (double it) if the person who hits the full combo to obtain the prize also presents the four coupons (non-winners) preceding that round.
To become a winner of the Cartonazo, you must have all the correct answers on the coupon. Each of the cards, precisely, has 15 numbers between 00 and 89.
From Saturday until the following Wednesday, readers have to compare the numbers on the cardboard with those published in the printed edition of EL DIA.
If by Wednesday there are fifteen correct answers, immediately whoever shows up with that coupon becomes the winner.
In this case, you must call 425-0101 and go to Diagonal 80 Nº 815 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If more than one winner is registered, the prize, as is known, will be divided equally among the readers who prove they have matched the 15 numbers. In this case, only the pot of those who meet the requirement of presenting the four coupons of the respective previous weeks will be doubled.
