Belinda signs record deal a decade after the release of her most recent album

MIAMI – The Spanish-Mexican singer and actress Belinda, who proclaims that the important thing in music is the songs that “make you feel” and not the genres, told EFE on Tuesday that she has returned to having faith in herself and that her incorporation to Warner Music is going to mean a “radical change” in his career.

Born in Madrid but living in Mexico since she was a child, Belinda will release her first single with that international company before the end of 2023, as a preview of an album that will be accompanied by a “docuseries”, according to her excited look and voice.

“I have not made a decision this important for more than 10 years or so,” said this artist in her thirties, who has sung with Juan Magán, Lola Índigo, Tini and Ana Mena, among other artists, about her entry into Warner Music, announced this Monday in Miami.

Belinda Peregrín does not want to remember when her last album came out, “Catarsis” (2013). She only says that she came to think that she was “salty” (unlucky), because she was affected by all the mergers and changes in the record world and found it “very difficult” to continue.

“I was very traumatized and frustrated and I stopped believing in myself for a long time,” she said, already recovered and wanting her words to help other people who may be going through the same thing.

“Suddenly, I started to release music with other artists and I realized that it was a matter of simply believing in myself again, of trusting again that I can,” he said.

“My message is that it is never too late to fulfill your dreams, to start over, to believe in you. I think this is what is happening to me right now… that I am very excited, eager that today is the moment, it’s not tomorrow, it’s not the past,” he added.

In addition, she said, it has been important for her to have a team at Warner that respects her vision and gives her the opportunity to do what she likes musically.

The result will be reflected in records and tours, she said, without forgetting her projects in the other field of her artistic career: acting, in which she began as a child.

“Next year a very important series will be released on Prime Time Video about the story of Paco Stanley, a Mexican presenter who was killed, and I am part of the project,” he said.

Regarding his beginnings in the world of soap operas with “Friends forever”, he affirmed that “on the one hand it is good, because you mature before”, but on the other, “when you are so small, you are not capable of making the best decisions”.

The singer of hits like “I’m sorry” or “Bella treason” doesn’t like labels or pigeonholes in music, and she considers herself “very multifaceted in that regard”, since she has dabbled in many different genres.

“I rather believe in songs. Songs that really make a difference and make people feel something, those are my motto and my flag,” said Belinda, who writes 85% of the songs she sings, but is open to collaborations.

He often dreams of a song, but is not always able to remember the melody that comes to him.

“I’m asleep and I’m dreaming and a song comes out by itself and I wake up and say, oh, it can’t be possible, I don’t remember. So I record a little bit of what I dreamed of in my voice notes,” she said.

Sometimes he is also inspired by “a theme” and mentions “the beauty of sadness”, a phrase that lately he says “keep in mind”.

“I think that it can be the beauty of sadness to mature, although it is sad, it is beautiful, because you learn or perhaps end a relationship that makes you very sad but opens other doors for you,” he said.

Sadness is something he knows: “When you stop believing in yourself, of course there is a lot of sadness, but there has to be a catharsis or there has to be a moment for there to be a change.”

Since the first decade of the 21st century, Belinda has been a prominent figure in Latin pop music.
