Saving on energy consumption at home is kind to both the electricity bill and the environment. That’s what Samsung means, which recently sharpened its Smartthings ecosystem in Sweden. It’s about Smartthings Energy, a feature that shows the energy consumption of your connected home gadgets.

The Smartthings app also displays daily updates, time overview and an estimate of upcoming electricity costs for devices that support it. Samsung states that all of the company’s white goods and household appliances with Wi-Fi are compatible with Smartthings Energy, which is also suitable for warning when your gadgets draw more than what is considered normal. An open refrigerator door and poor air circulation in the refrigerator are things that should be able to be detected with the help of the new functionality.

A special energy saving mode can also be switched on in the Smartthings app, which is available in Samsung’s washing and cooling products. For non-Samsung brands, you can currently share power consumption, but more features for third-party gadgets will be added over time.

You can download an updated version of the Smartthings app in Google Play and App Store not.
