Some 130,000 protesters, according to Israeli police, marched through the coastal city. They are worried about the dismantling of the rule of law, after the announcement of institutional reforms.

Lhe tall buildings, dotted with shining shards, and the buildings under construction, topped with gleaming cranes, like so many luminous lines in the black sky, and the dense crowd below, marching, dancing to the rhythm of chants and slogans, give at times the feeling of being in a huge nightclub, on the scale of a city. But if there is drunkenness, and sometimes a euphoria mixed with surprise to see so many, the demonstrators are aware that the hour is serious – and some fear that it is too late. This is the third demonstration against the new Netanyahu government, in place since the end of December, and the wide Eliezer Kaplan avenue in Tel Aviv, usually so full of cars that it is difficult to cross, is this Saturday evening delivered to a multitude both joyful and worried.
