President Biden moved closer to formally announcing his re-election campaign on Friday, telling reporters that he will do so “very soon.”

“No, no, no, no,” he replied during his trip to Ireland when asked if “his calculations” had changed in recent days about making his announcement.

“I have already made the decision and I will announce it relatively soon. Although my trip to this place reinforced my optimism about what can be done.

When asked if that meant he had made up his mind, he replied with some impatience, “I already told you I plan to run again.”

Biden made his most recent remarks this Friday at an airport in Ireland, where he has spent part of this week.

On Wednesday, he gave a speech in Belfast, in northern Ireland, to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

He then traveled to the Republic of Ireland, where he visited his ancestral hometown.

Biden’s 2024 campaign has been subject to debate over whether or not to do so since he was elected as the oldest president in US history.

He is currently 80 years old and would be 86 by the end of his second term, which has made some of his fellow Democrats uneasy.

Although Biden suggested early on that he would likely run again.

He has faced a lot of pressure with the imminent announcement of a formal campaign, although there is no sign of a competitive Democrat in the primary.

Writer Marianne Williamson is running again against Biden and anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy has also said he will run, but neither have a large fan base.

On the flip side, the first few weeks of the Republican primary have been plagued by news of former President Donald J. Trump’s mounting legal troubles, including his entrenchment in New York last week where he was indicted on 34 counts of felonies. related to paying to silence a porn star who said she had had sex with him.

That has given Biden a bit of an incentive to draw attention to himself and steer clear of Republican issues.
