On the other hand, traffic difficulties are to be expected from Sunday January 1, classified orange in a large eastern part of the country.

For this January 1, returns from winter sports resorts to the rest of the country are expected, enough to cause difficulties on the main alpine axes, in the Rhône Valley and on the A6 motorway.

Under these conditions Bison Futé recommends:

– reach or cross Île-de-France before 12 noon,

– avoid the A6 motorway, near the Fleury toll gate, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.,

– avoid the A7 motorway, between Orange and Lyon, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.,

– avoid the A43 motorway, between Chambéry and Lyon, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.,

– avoid the N90, between Italy and Albertville, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.,

– avoid the Mont-Blanc tunnel on the way back to France, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. (waiting time longer than 1 hour).

Monday January 2, the first difficulties should appear around 11 a.m. in Île-de-France, with the busiest period between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

– reach or cross Île-de-France before 11 a.m.,

– avoid the A35 motorway, between Strasbourg and Germany, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.,

– avoid the A10 motorway, near the Saint-Arnoult toll gate, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.,

– avoid the A6 motorway between Lyon and Beaune, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
