We find ourselves again talking about the problems of Blizzard Entertainmentthe historic software house that gave birth to successful intellectual properties such as Diablo, World of Warcraft, Starcraft and Overwatch.

Over the past few hours, a report by Bloomberg brought to light some serious internal problems of the company. It would seem that Brian Birmingham, now a former World of Warcraft Classic lead, has resigned in protest at what is being described as an ‘annoying’ studio practice. According to the portal report, written and shared by Jason Schreierall Blizzard managers would be forced to assign periodically developer ratings, with the obligation to distribute lower grades to a specific number of workers (approximately 5%). Basically, even if 100 developers were to work perfectly, at least 5 of them should be among those with a lower grade, with consequences that have not been made public at the moment.

It was a recent event that triggered something in the manager who abandoned his job: apparently, in fact, the man found himself faced with the impossibility of assigning a positive evaluation to those who deserved it. Refusing to proceed, the manager has thus decided to walk away in the form of protest against this particular custom that is supposed to be in use since 2021.

At the moment it does not seem that the protest in Birmingham is producing the desired results, but it is probable that the spread of the news could help stir things up and prevent similar situations from happening again in the future.

In the meantime, we remind you that many developers are concerned about the Microsoft x Activision deal, according to a survey.
