Bloody Father's Day: Separate shootings leave teen dead, 4 injured in DC

Three separate shootings in less than two hours on the night of Father’s Day left a teenager dead and four other youths wounded in southeast DC, police said.

Two teens were shot around 8:45 p.m. in the 2700 block of Langston Place SE, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

They were found with life-threatening injuries and taken to a hospital. One of the minors died and the other was in stable condition, according to authorities.

About an hour later, two victims were shot in a white vehicle in the 2200 block of Minnesota Avenue SE. Video from a nearby business captured the sound of at least a dozen gunshots.

Police found a young boy, whose age was not released, and a man in the car.

The victims were taken to a hospital. The boy was in critical condition but he was expected to survive. The man was in stable condition.

The third shooting occurred in the 1900 block of Bruce Place SE around 10:40 p.m.

Police said a bullet went through a house and struck a teenage girl in the hip. She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Multiple shooters were involved and the shots caused property damage.

No motive for the incident or descriptions of the suspects were immediately provided.

The shootings occurred a day after a 14-year-old boy was shot and killed in the 2600 block of Sheridan Road SE.

Neighbors told NBC Washington they were heartbroken to hear what happened.

“They shoot everywhere. They really have to do something with these guns,” said neighbor Antoinette Harshaw. “That’s a shame. You know, that’s someone’s baby.”

This is a developing story.
