Spotify has removed tens of thousands of songs generated by artificial intelligence (AI) startup Boomywhich offers users the ability to create melodies in a variety of styles, including rap and lo-fi, and then post them on streaming services to receive royalties.

Universal Music has warned all major streaming platforms of suspicious activity related to Boomy’s songs, suggesting the possible use of bots to inflate audience statistics. As a result, Spotify removed about 7% of the tracks uploaded by Boomy.
