After revealing that Apple had planned to release the first generation of AirPods in different colors to match iPhone 7 models, the collector of rare Apple products known as @KosutamiSan released exclusive details that Apple may have also released MagSafe chargers in various color options.

In a post on Twitter, she reveals that “the MagSafe charger used to have colored versions” similar to the MagSafe charger on the MacBook, but with a braided cable and a metal region with a more saturated tone.

A shared photo shows what would be “exact prototypes” of the accessory in blue and black, in addition to the now traditional silver model.

Based on videos from teardown that disassemble the accessory and reveal its internal components, we see that the precision is high enough that, in fact, these are prototypes developed and abandoned by the brand.

To avoid misinformation, the collector reinforces that the chargers used to have different colors, not that they will be released in new color options.

The MagSafe charger was introduced by Apple in 2020 with the iPhone 12, betting on powerful magnets to precisely align the copper coil of the smartphone and the charger, ensuring that the device is always recharging when in contact with the base.

Prior to that, Apple introduced MagSafe in 2006 MacBook models, offering a dedicated magnetic port for charging. After abandoning the idea in 2017, the company brought back the connector in newer models.
