Blur returns to the guitar and tells us about the mistakes with the song “St. Charles Square”

Half of this 2023 has brought us great musical premieres, as several raffled bands and artists have released impressive songs and records. However, we also had completely unexpected returns like that of Blur, who are back with several dates around the world and music fresh from the oven under their arms.

After eight years without playing or doing anything together, Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree announced with great fanfare that this 2023 they will return and in a big way. We are not only saying this because of the tour that they started a few weeks ago -and that will pass through Mexico with a show at the Corona Capital–, also because in a very short time will release their ninth studio album, The Ballad of Darren.

Blur shakes our heads with guitar blows with the song “St. Charles Square”

The first preview of the new Blur album was “The Narcissist”, a song that shows us a much more mature version and that, without a doubt, is the one indicated to represent this stage of the band. However, almost a month after the launch of The Ballad of Darren, the British band shakes us up by premiering “St. Charles Square”, the second single from this recording material.

And yes, we know that for fans from hell, this song is not new (since all their presentations are opening with it). However, we finally have the studio version and unlike the first single (which was a quieter track), here Blur returns with everything to frenetic guitars and choruses to tell us about the mistakes we make in life.

As if this weren’t enough, Blur also released the official music video for “St. Charles Square”, which was directed by Toby L (who had previously worked with Damon Albarn, as well as Liam Gallagher, Olivia Rodrigo, Foals and Arlo Parks). This visual includes several images of the shows that the British band has played so far this year and that completely captures the essence of the song.

Remember that The Ballad of DarrenBlur’s ninth studio album will be out on July 21.. But while we wait for the day to come to listen to it in its entirety and we warm up our engines to see them at Corona Capital 2023, turn it up to full volume and listen to “St. Charles Square ”, his new song.
