A child died last weekend after being hit by a truck in Guantanamo, according to various reports on social media.

A user of the Facebook group BUSES & TRUCKS ACCIDENTS for more experience and fewer victims! asked in a post about lThe veracity of the rumor about a child killed in an accident in Guantánamoto which several users responded confirming the tragedy.

“I went by the place, but I didn’t have the courage to take photos, it was a mother and her 5-year-old son who got out of a car, the mother stopped to talk to someone from the car she got out of who asked her something and He did not realize that the minor started to cross the road, since they lived on the other side, and a truck that was driving did not see him and hit him, dying on the spot,” said user Noelio Ponce Palacio.

So far no further details have been released about the accident or the identity of the victim and his mother.

This Tuesday, four people were seriously injured after a spectacular accident that occurred in the town of Río Seco, in the Guamá municipality, Santiago de Cuba.

Apparently, a vehicle left a secondary road for unknown reasons, and hit a mango tree. The car was half overturned.

On Sunday, for his part, a young man of only 24 years passed away in the municipality of Marianaoin Havana, after the collision of a lada and a motorcycle.

At the national level, the figures for road accidents continue to be dramatic in Cuba. Between January and May 2023, 3,620 accidents occurred traffic on the island, which killed 290 people and injured 2,807, according to official figures.

People between the ages of 21 and 35 represented 22% of those affected in the accidents, while the ages of the majority of the fatalities ranged between 46 and 55 years.

In Cuba, six out of ten accidents leave victims, mainly due to vehicle collisions. In the case of pedestrian collisions, for every five collisions, one person dies. The time with the highest incidence of accidents is between 3 and 6 in the afternoon, and 70% of road incidents occur in urban areas.
