Washington, Apr 17 (EFE).- Mexican-American chef Aarón Sánchez will mentor six Latino restaurants in Los Angeles starting this Monday as part of the new series “El toque de Aarón”, which debuts today on the Discovery Familia channel.

Sánchez, 47, who was born in Chihuahua, has become a celebrity as a chef, cookbook author and philanthropist.

The series, which will also air on HGTV starting Wednesday, includes half-hour shows in which Sánchez collaborates with restaurant owners to optimize their business.

The help includes the work of the designer Cris Mercado and the project manager Ángel Riveros as part of a team that has four days to complete the aesthetic remodeling of the restaurants and the new composition of the menus.

Sánchez has already risen to fame as a chef and contestant on television and internet shows since 2009 and 2010 when he starred in Chefs vs City and hosted the Cooking Channel’s series “Taco Trip,” which was nominated for an Emmy Award.

In addition, Sánchez has promoted the Aarón Sánchez Scholarship Fund, which supports up-and-coming chefs from the Latino community so they can enroll in culinary schools.
