At the ceremony, Guajajara paid tribute to British journalist Dom Phillips and indigenous expert Bruno Pereira, who were murdered in the Amazon last year. The event, attended by Lula, also inaugurated the sister of councilwoman Marielle Franco, killed by paramilitaries, Anielle Franco, as Minister for Ethnic Equality.

More than 90 percent against storming government district

The swearing-in ceremony of Guajajara and Franco was postponed after radical supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro stormed the government district in Brasilia on Sunday. In a poll published yesterday, most Brazilians condemned the storming of the government district.

93 percent rejected the storming of Congress, the seat of government and the Supreme Court, said the polling institute Datafolha. Only three percent of respondents supported the attack.
