In the night from Monday to Tuesday there was a police operation in Bregenz. A 43-year-old was arrested.

On January 3, 2023 at around 1 a.m., a police patrol was called to the Braike in Bregenz because several garbage bags and a paper container 100 meters away were set on fire. When the patrol arrived, the officers found three burning garbage bags. The officers managed to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.

Car damaged by fire

At the same time, two paper containers that were parked about 100 meters away, directly in front of the carport roof of a residential complex, caught fire. The fire brigade, which had meanwhile arrived, was able to bring the fire in the paper container under control and thus prevent the flames from spreading to the carport and the residential complex. A parked car was damaged by the burning paper containers.

Police were able to stop 43-year-olds

In the course of search activities, another patrol in the vicinity of the fire sites was able to stop a 43-year-old man who had previously been seen at the scene. In the course of the questioning, the heavily intoxicated man made contradictory statements. During a personal check, objects were secured, which were also found at the scene of the fire. To further clarify the facts, the provisional arrest was pronounced against the 43-year-old.

Man tried to escape and fell to the ground

Immediately after the arrest was announced, the man wanted to flee, but tripped and fell to the ground. The man then vehemently resisted the arrest. He was taken to the detention room at the Bregenz police station, where further interrogation and investigations into the fires that had started are being carried out.
