The Bregenzerwald recently welcomed a new mobility hub. The new bus station in Egg recently went into operation.

Work has been underway on a new bus station in Egg since mid-March. After around nine months, the mobility node is almost complete.

The new bus station went into operation on December 23, replacing the existing bus stops on the left and right of the L200. Changing trains is becoming less complicated: the station consists of a central island around 55 meters long and 2.4 to 8.4 meters wide.

bridge and bus station

Not only the bus station but also the pigeon bridge on which it was built was rebuilt. A roundabout was set up for the duration of the works, which the municipality would like to keep. As usual, traffic runs in two lanes over the bridge – past the bus station on the left and right.

Seating and greenery will follow

Despite the commissioning, one of the most important elements is still missing: the seating for the waiting passengers. The green roof and a tree island with a silver linden tree are also to be built. The bus station will also be embellished with a work of art by Manfred Egender.

The seating is missing at the moment. Greening and other elements for “decoration” will follow.

“Comfortable and safe transfer”

“A comfortable and safe transfer is then possible at two bus edges,” says the Vorarlberg transport association on its website. “The buses going into the valley stop at the B edge, those going out of the valley at the A edge.”

opening in spring

The official opening is scheduled for spring, according to the municipality. The mobility node will only be able to develop its full effect in the course of 2024. Then the new building on the former post office area and the underground car park under the community forecourt should be ready. Car sharing for e-cars and two-wheeler parking boxes are also to be offered.
