The Brennaissance continues! Everyone’s new favorite actor is back with a bang and after his performance in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, he is literally drowning in accolades and praise. Something that also caused many to think and ask the question if there isn’t potential for a new Mummy movie with Fraser in the lead role? Something the actor himself expressed interest in in an interview with Deadline which was recently done.
“Sign me up”
Short but concise answer, of course it’s not quite that simple. Especially after Universal’s huge blunder with its attempt to make a “monsterverse”. Something Fraser himself has expressed some questions about and the actor doesn’t really understand what the studio is trying or trying to achieve there.
“Gosh, I don’t know any juicy details about it, but it’s kinda been an open-ended question for some time now. I’m not opposed to it. I don’t know an actor who doesn’t want a job . I don’t think I’ve been this famous and unemployed at the same time in my professional life, so sign me up. We’ve all got to start somewhere.”
After the Mummy disaster with Tom Cruise, it feels a bit doubtful if Universal is so eager to take a chance on the brand again. Even if Fraser happened to be there or not. But maybe in a few years, when everyone has forgotten the 2017 flop?
