Beware of phishing attacks on Ionos customers
Cyber crooks are currently trying to lure customers of the German hoster Ionos with perfidious phishing emails. The mail available heise online states that the recipient must immediately change the connection settings of his mail client in order to be able to continue to access his mailbox. This may actually be necessary because the company is currently switching off unencrypted mail access and is phasing out the outdated encryption protocols. The attackers use this uncertainty to phish access data from Ionos customers. The aim of the mail is for the recipient to open the attachment, which supposedly contains the instructions for configuring the mail client. It is an HTML file. If you have received such an email with an attachment, it is best to delete it unseen. Anyone who has already fallen for it should immediately change their access data at Ionos.

EU Parliament for strong regulation of crypto markets
The EU Parliament has approved a “Regulation on the Transmission of Information in Transfers of Money and Certain Crypto Values”. MEPs also approve the draft “Regulation on Markets for Crypto Assets”. According to the regulation on the obligation to provide information, crypto trading venues in the EU will in future have to determine the identity of people who transfer or receive crypto assets such as Bitcoin for payments or donations, regardless of their equivalent value in national currencies. The EU wants to make value flows traceable and, in particular, curb money laundering by enabling authorities to better control the exchange between state currencies and crypto assets.
Twitter alternative: ARD opens its own Mastodon instance with a Tagesschau account
Three weeks after ZDF, ARD put its own instance of ard.social into operation on the Twitter alternative Mastodon. With the @[email protected] account, ARD uses the best-known format of the broadcasters. The decision was made because the interest in their content was particularly high, a spokesman told heise online. An unofficial Tagesschau account already has more than 50,000 followers. Furthermore, already active mastodon accounts from SWR3 and the NDR have now been moved to the in-house instance. It is an experiment to gain experience in the decentralized Fediverse. The authority is intended for the editorial offers of the ARD.
Twitter: Elon Musk wants to delete inactive accounts and promises archive
Twitter boss Elon Musk has announced that accounts that have been inactive for years will be removed from the platform. This is to make abandoned usernames available again. At the same time, he warned that the move would likely reduce the number of followers on active accounts. He did not answer questions about what happens to the inactive accounts of celebrities – such as ex-US President Donald Trump – or how to deal with the accounts of the deceased. In a separate tweet, he only assured that the content should be archived.
