Broadway Theater Suggestions for This Week

Frank DiLella, host of “On Stage” on our sister network NY1, shares his list of shows and plays that he recommends for you this week.

Actress and television star Sandra Oh returns to the New York stage in the American premiere of “The Welkin” in a production by the Atlantic Theatre Company.

A darkly funny play about democracy and housework in 18th-century rural England, Oh plays Lizzy Luke, a midwife caught up in a trial. “The Welkin” runs through July 7.

A St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, don’t miss DARK NOON.

The work addresses the horrific and profound history of the United States through the eyes of Native Americans, cowboys and enslaved Africans.

DARK NOON will run until Sunday.

This weekend, enjoy “HENRY IV,” a production by the New York Classical Theatre, at Carl Schurz Park on the Upper East Side.

Shakespeare’s historical play will be performed from Friday to Sunday. Tickets are free, but reservations must be made on the theatre company’s website.

And finally, on Little Island, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Suzan-Lori Parks will lead a series of performances and conversations titled “TELL ME MORE” from July 10-14.

Each presentation will be based on a pair of ideas that will include a musical act.

And don’t forget to check out “On Stage” with Frank DiLella on weekends on our sister network NY1 to immerse yourself in the world of theater.
