Bronze for the men's rifle team in San Salvador 2023

The team of Gustavo Enríquez, Luis Mendoza and Eyvin López won this Sunday the bronze medal for teams in the 10-meter Air Rifle.

“Super excited really. A little hurt in part, because it could have been better. Overall, excited by what the team has achieved”, said López, a graduate of the Eugenio Guerra Cruz Specialized School in Sports.

“I was really in the zone, at some point I lost my rhythm and it was difficult for me to recover. Happy to be the first medal”, added López.

According to the sports historian, Carlos Uriarte, it is only the third medal they have won in the Games in the group event. The first bronze medal was in Havana 1982 when he made his debut in the competition and the second medal was silver in Mayagüez 2010.

“Very happy. Excited, it’s my first games, I didn’t expect to get to that medal. There is still room to continue improving,” commented Enríquez, a native of Mayagüez.

The gold medal went to Mexico and the silver medal went to Centro Caribe Sports (Guatemala).

This is the fourth medal for shooting with one gold, two silver and one bronze.
