In this day and age, no series seems to be safe from a sequel, even if the last chapter was decades ago.

Sometimes the result is magnificent, as in Cobra Kai on Netflix, which seamlessly continues the story of the Karate Kid films from the 80s. But sometimes things backfire. An example of this is Velma, the latest adaptation of Scooby-Doo. Loud Rotten Tomatoes This is the worst series ever produced.

Next also gets Buffy the Vampire Slayer a sequel, but it uses a surprisingly different format.

This is what awaits you in the Buffy sequel

Who was Buffy again? Anyone who grew up in the 90s could hardly avoid the vampire hunter Buffy. The cult series is about the eternal battle between good and evil, between hunters and demons, vampires and other monsters. The 16-year-old huntress Buffy Summers moves to the small town of Sunnydale, which was built on, of all things, a gate to hell.

The series originally ended in 2003, but 20 years later there is now a comeback: Some of the original cast of the supernatural TV drama, including James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head and more, are returning for a sequel called Slayers: A Buffyverse Story. This radio play is produced by Audible and promises to take fans back into the world of vampire hunters.

The story takes place ten years after the last Buffy episode and focuses on Spike (played by Marsters), who goes undercover in Los Angeles. His path crosses with a Slayer from an alternate reality where Buffy Summers never existed. In this reality, Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter) is the only hunter.

Buffy without Buffy: Interestingly, some of the main cast from the original series, such as Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Willow (Alysson Hannigan), and Angel (David Boreanaz), do not appear to be involved in the Slayers project.

James Marsters commented to the Website EW.com expressed his excitement about the project and promised fans a familiar yet surprising journey. He also emphasized the immersive experience that audio storytelling provides, inviting both old and new fans to the world of Buffy in a whole new way.

Fans should check it out 12th of October Mark your calendar because that’s when Slayers premieres on Audible. It will be exciting to see how this new chapter in the Buffyverse will be received by fans. But there is already one nuisance – Slayers will only be released in English.
