US director Tim Burton (“Batman”, “Alice in Wonderland”) is planning a sequel to his cult classic “Beetlejuice”. The Warner Bros. studio wants to bring “Beetlejuice 2” to the cinema in autumn 2024, the film portals “Variety” and “Hollywood Reporter” reported on Tuesday.

The ghost comedy revolved around a deceased couple (played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) who want to stay in their mansion. They hire a poltergeist (Michael Keaton) to scare away the newly moved housemates (with Winona Ryder as their teenage daughter).

The story of the sequel is still under wraps. According to Variety, Keaton will once again play the Beetlejuice ghost. Ryder is also back on board. New additions are Jenna Ortega and Justin Theroux. Filming is set to begin shortly in London.
