HOUSTON – The thousands of passengers who move through the different terminals of the Bush International Airport are suffering from an unexpected situation this Monday: the air conditioning broke down.

The situation occurs in the midst of high temperatures that began to be felt in the city of Houston since this weekend and that around 3:30 pm the thermometer was close to 96 degrees.

However, the thermal sensation due to the humidity that is felt in the region is located in the range of 105 degrees.

The airport authorities adapted portable air conditioning units in order to mitigate the high temperatures inside the air terminal, but this is not enough given the high number of passengers that move during these summer vacation days.

Extra precautions must be taken when animals travel in the car with their owners.

This was the statement issued by the Houston airport system regarding the problem with the air conditioning:

“The air conditioning system at George Bush Intercontinental Airport is currently experiencing unexpected problems, which has reduced the capacity of the air conditioning system. As a result, the temperature inside our airport is affected. Prioritizing our passengers, we are installing temporary coolers that will supplement the air conditioning system and provide relief while our crews assess and expedite any necessary repairs.

“Houston Airports is working with airline partners and airport stakeholders to ensure that Bush Airport passengers have access to free bottled water, should they need it. Houston airport screeners are also touring all five terminals to monitor temperatures inside the airport.

“Keep in mind that Houston Airports is doing everything possible to restore optimal conditions for our passengers.”
