Despite a season with little playing time, Emre Can is not currently thinking about saying goodbye to Borussia Dortmund. “I’ve already thought about my future, but I don’t have a concrete plan at the moment”explains Can in an interview with the ‘kicker’.
he be “Currently happy in Dortmund, the contract still runs for a year and a half. What happens after that is still a long way off.” At BVB, Can emphasizes, he is “happy […], it fits in the club, and I’m also close to my family in Frankfurt, among other things. That fits.”
“Totally unsatisfied”
The defensive midfielder was only in Edin Terzic’s starting line-up for four of 15 Bundesliga games this season. With this interim balance, Can “not at all, not at all” satisfied: “It was not easy. I came back from vacation with an injury and felt like I was behind the whole time afterwards. And so I didn’t play as much as I had hoped.”
Now the 29-year-old wants to “Put it on in training, prove it in the games – and then hopefully it will get better.” He sets higher standards for himself: “I can do a lot more, I know that. A lot of people in the club know that. My goal is to retrieve that and step on the gas for it. But maybe my mistake is that sometimes I want too much, so I have to calm down.” In a week from today, BVB will start the new Bundesliga year with a home game against FC Augsburg.
