In most cases, a proper router should not be missing in a household. Many users prefer one of the various Fritzbox models from AVM, which the network specialist provides with regular firmware updates. For some Fritzbox routers and Fritzbox repeaters, however, this is the end of it AVM explained on the official website. Fritz boxes 3490 and 4020, as well as the Fritz repeaters 1750E and 310 will no longer receive updates.

No more support for some Fritz boxes and Fritz repeaters

The Fritzrepeater 310 has been kept alive for a full ten years, while the Fritzbox 3490 has been around for a good eight years. The current FritzOS 7.50, which has recently become available for the Fritzbox 7530, among other things, is no longer installed on the products mentioned. In addition, AVM will no longer offer support for the routers and repeaters in question, but the five-year manufacturer’s guarantee is not affected by this, as it expires separately from the time of purchase.

However, the models are not completely forgotten, because AVM’s knowledge databases with lots of information about the Fritz boxes and Fritz repeaters remain untouched despite this decision. Any problems with the in-house router should therefore still be easy to fix in the future.

Anyone who attaches great importance to always having the latest firmware on their technical devices should now find out which Fritzbox model they have at home. However, for most users, the lack of updates shouldn’t be a reason to get a brand new device, at least for now.
