570 episodes and two movies later, Cafe Camera became a real cult series among a large proportion of M6 viewers. In the 2000s, while France 2 was a hit with its short program A boy a girl, which will reveal Alexandra Lamy and Jean Dujardin, the sixth channel is launching its own format between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. We follow the adventures of a small company and its employees with a lot of humor and clichés. 20 years later, the anniversary program with never-before-seen sketches has divided many people.
20 years of Camera Café with all the original actors
On the menu for this special evening, a look back at 20 years of news. With Jean-Claude and Hervé hanging out at the Balto in particular, with sets never seen before, the duo looks back on the last twenty years through key moments in the news. The scandal around Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the election of François Hollande, marriage for all, or even Fukushima… Highlights that allow the sketches – all unpublished – to find the iconic characters of Cafe Camera. Armelle, Alexandre Pesle, Gérard Chaillou, Shirley Bousquet or even Jeanne Savary return to the venerable coffee machine, admittedly having taken a few wrinkles, but with characters who have not failed to evolve over the years. There were also tributes, in particular the one on the Charlie Hebdo massacrewith a few moving seconds of silence.

Internet users amused and other skeptics
But if M6 has put a lot of emphasis on this great comeback and this 20th anniversary celebration broadcast in prime time, on social networks, on the other hand, we were more like half fig, half grape. There are those who celebrate sketches and humor that are still relevant, or even viewers who were expecting to be disappointed by this anniversary: “It’s better than I thought, full of references, cleats, all the actors who come back even for a small role, it’s nice.” Others, however, are much more skeptical, like this user: “I think I have a hard time with the ‘old’ humor in this new release. I find it awkward and awkward, and almost bad.” We will wait to see the hearings this Wednesday morning to see if this Camera Café, 20 years later was worth producing for M6.
I was dubious about the interest of doing a 30 years later, but it’s an excellent surprise. The same humor and the actors have aged very, very little. #CameraCafe

fan of old people #CameraCafe…
How can they be so dumb now?
It’s sad.
Either the actors sucked or the success was tied to the lyrics.— William P (@littlewilloo) January 24, 2023

Very disappointed with this #CameraCafe… Like what, we have to stop with the commemorations of years later. It was the same with #The unknown.. Damage

What a pleasure to find #CameraCafe and its cult characters! The DNA of the series is at the rendezvous of this bonus anniversary

#CameraCafe I always have trouble with the programs before that come back! You realize every time that times have changed! The humor has changed!

#CameraCafe 20 years later, the actors haven’t aged that much?

Nice sequence with the tribute to Charlie Hebdo. That minute of silence we all had at the office… #CameraCafe
