Mexico City.- James Cameron is dominating the global box office with the theatrical release of Avatar: The Waterway and the 3D re-release of Titanic.

In its ninth weekend, the Avatar sequel added $25.8 million in worldwide sales, reaching a figure of $213 billion.

For its part, Titanic managed to remain in third place among the highest-grossing films in history, adding 22.3 million dollars worldwide.

Titanic’s return to theaters reached theaters in 51 foreign territories, including Mexico, and gained showings on IMAX screens.

With these figures, the film starring Leonardo Di Caprio continues on Avatar: The Way of Water with 2 thousand 219 million dollars raised worldwide.

‘Magic Mike’ takes Cameron’s spotlight in North America

Magic Mike was the highest-grossing film this weekend in the United States, narrowly surpassing the works of James Cameron.

Magic Mike’s Last Dance grossed $8.2 million in its first weekend in North American theaters, according to estimates released this Sunday.

The Avatar sequel earned $6.9 million while the 25th anniversary reboot of Titanic earned $6.4 million from Friday to Sunday.

The Steven Soderbergh-directed film had a modest opening, in just 1,500 theaters. The movie was going to go straight to HBO Max but Warner Bros changed its mind and released it first in theaters.

In fourth place was 80 for Brady, a movie about American football player Tom Brady, in its second weekend with $6 million.
