IEntitled “Drôles de Guerres”, the ‘trailer’ is 20 minutes long and is a production co-signed by Saint Laurent and L’Atelier.

“Jean-Luc Godard often transformed his synopses into aesthetic programs. ‘Drôles de Guerres’ is born out of this tradition and will remain as the ultimate cinema gesture”, underlined the Cannes festival in a statement.

The film will be presented in Cannes in a world premiere, in the “Cannes Classics” program, by Fabrice Aragno, Godard’s collaborator in the last two decades.

Jean-Luc Godard is also remembered in Cannes with the exhibition of a restored version of the film “Contempt” (1963) and with the documentary “Godard par Godard”, by Florence Platarets.

Jean-Luc Godard, a key figure in the French ‘Nouvelle Vague’, the movement that revolutionized cinema from the 1950s onwards, died in September 2022 at the age of 91.

Author of influential works for several generations of directors such as “Bando à Parte” (1964), “Pedro, o Louco” (1965) or the more recent “Filme Socialismo” (2010) and “Adeus à Linguagem” (2014), Jean -Luc Godard was known “for his iconoclastic, seemingly improvised filmmaking style, as well as his unyielding radicalism”, as The Guardian recalled in the filmmaker’s obituary.

The 76th Cannes Film Festival runs from May 16th to 27th.
