The sovereign’s personal message, the content of which has not been revealed, was sent to Donald Trump on Sunday via the British embassy in Washington.
The 78-year-old former US president, who is running for the White House again, was wounded in the ear on Saturday in Pennsylvania and evacuated with a bloodied cheek after several shots were fired that left one dead and two seriously injured among spectators during an event within his campaign.
Shortly after the attack, the new British Labour Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, expressed his dismay at this attempted murder, stating in X that political violence in any form has no place in societies.
The British leader then spoke to Donald Trump in the afternoon, the Prime Minister’s press service reported, to express his condolences to the families of the victims and wish the former president a speedy recovery.
