Mexico City.- A few days after his 79th birthday, Carlos Villagrán is saying goodbye to Kiko, the famous character with whom he toured the world through the El Chavo del Ocho program.

Starting this Monday, the actor will be at the Circo de los Hermanos Caballero, in Phoenix, Arizona, and where he will last about a month, with almost ten performances a day. And what he celebrated the most was that he feels very good to say goodbye to his audience.

“I am in good health, I feel good and I want to say goodbye to my audience as it should be. I did not want to do it, but Don Ramón’s son (Valdés) was the one who convinced me, I did not want to go because of my age.

“He spoke to me and told me ‘if my dad were alive and in a wheelchair, people would take him, they want to see them.’ now,” Villagrán said at a virtual press conference.

Although there are no confirmed dates for possible functions in Mexico, the former partner of Roberto Gómez Bolaños, Florinda Meza, Edgar Viviar and María Antonieta de las Nieves will continue their functions in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Quico was the original name of the name in the story created by Gómez Bolaños, better known as “Chespirito”, and he has been called Kiko for years due to rights problems with the latter.

The comedian said that he will dedicate himself to walking and being with his wife, at his house in Querétaro, after he retires. And he will celebrate his 79th birthday, on January 12, giving functions, which will be very significant for him.

“I don’t know if I have many pending, I had a book of anecdotes pending, I don’t know if I want a series or an interview telling my things.

“I could have done the book in the pandemic, but I didn’t feel like it, I said ‘it doesn’t come out’. And at Christmas (2021) I got covid. I was in the oven, preparing a pork leg with (chili) ancho, mulato and pasilla, and I’m going to try it and I say ‘aaaah, they sold me cardboard, it doesn’t taste like anything’. I wanted to smell it and nothing, I lost my sense of smell, taste, and I had to remain closed and I no longer wanted to do anything ” Villagrán spoke.

Minutes before the end of the conference, the audio was lost and he was unable to clarify many situations about his relationship with the survivors of the El Chavo del Ocho series.

“Suddenly Mr. Barriga (Edgar Vivar) speaks to me, he goes from one place to another, he is in different countries and with La Chilindrina (María Antonieta de las Nieves) we talk sometimes, once we met (in Peru) and we left to eat. And with Doña Florinda (we never) see each other, “he said and the audio went away. Then they hung up and there were no more questions and answers.
