Mexico City.- Actor Edward Norton discovered that he is a descendant of the real-life Pocahontas.

It was during the genealogical history program “In search of your roots” that the famous learned that the daughter of a seventeenth-century Native American chief is his twelfth great-grandmother.

According to CNN, the Oscar-nominated star, Edward Norton, is related to Pocahontas, the woman who married English settler John Rolfe.

“You have a trace of direct descent, no doubt, with your twelfth great-grandmother and great-grandfather, John Rolfe and Pocahontas,” said historian Henry Louis Gates Jr.

According to the researcher, the couple married in April 1614 in Jamestown, Virginia. Pocahontas died three years later in Gravesend, England.

Meanwhile, John Rolfe died in March 1622.

“You realize that you are a small part of the history of humanity,” said Edward Norton with some disbelief.

In the history of the United States it is established that Pocahontas received the English colonists in the United States in the early 27th century.

In fact, legend has it that the Powhatan Indian prevented war between her tribe and the colonizers. She would even have prevented the execution of an English captain.

The show that revealed the actor’s parentage also discovered that his third great-grandfather John Winstead owned a family of slaves.

“That part of my story doesn’t sit well with me,” he admitted.
