Harry’s book launch literally falls flat!
Land under in California! In the US state, the heavy rains never end. On Monday, authorities in several regions warned of floods, mudslides and debris flows and ordered evacuations.
Affected by the storm is Montecito, where Prince Harry (38) and Meghan (41) live. The two are currently not at home, but should be in New York. There, Harry continues to promote his scandalous biography “Spare” (officially on sale today) and visited the TV show by satirist and presenter Stephen Colbert (58).
However, it is unclear what happened to her two small children. Whether they’re traveling with mom and dad, or staying with Meghan’s grandma and nanny in Montecito.
All residents of the larger Santa Barbara County, where Montecito is located, have also been urged to get to safety “IMMEDIATELY” due to the “rapidly evolving” situation.
Tens of thousands of people in southern California were left without power on Monday. Roads and highways turned into raging rivers, trees fell, mud slid off hills, boulders fell onto the road.
The death toll rose from 12 to 14 on Monday. According to the authorities, two people were killed by trees.
US talker Ellen DeGeneres (64) reported to Instagram and filmed the severe flooding. She also lives in Montecito, belongs to Harry and Meghan’s neighborhood.
“Since we live on higher ground, we have been asked to stay safe at home. Please stay safe, everyone,” says Ellen, while masses of mud and rain race past her. According to Ellen, the water is already three meters high. “We need to be nicer to Mother Nature, because Mother Nature isn’t happy with us.”
The presenter also recalled the severe flooding and mudslides that hit the region five years ago. On January 9, 2018, mudslides killed 23 people in Montecito.
Tragic: Even now a boy (5) was swept away by the floods.
According to the fire department, the mother of the missing boy got stuck with her car in the flood waters around 8 a.m. near Paso Robles. Helpers were able to free the woman from the vehicle, but her child was swept away by the masses of water.
A firefighter later discovered one of the boy’s shoes. After seven hours, the authorities called off the search for the child because the water level was too dangerous for divers.
The boy has not yet been pronounced dead, said Tony Cipolla, spokesman for the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
Montecito, whose multi-million dollar real estate sits in stunning California countryside, is particularly prone to mudslides because it sits at the base of a mountain range. HERE many Hollywood stars have made their homes, their idyllic retreats.
What the luxury villas look like close to the severe storms is still completely open. In addition to Ellen, Harry and Meghan, Oprah Winfrey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry, among others, live here.
