CDMX.- How to make an artist Chilango for a day, but Mexican for life?” Was the question that Amazon Music executives had written on a blackboard while developing their program El Pesero Show.

They wanted to come up with a concept that would not be easily forgotten, that would give different artists the opportunity to get to know CDMX from another perspective and that would allow people to see their idols do what they had never done before.

For this reason, in the chapters Chayanne, an interpreter of “Tiempo de Vals”, is seen at the Angel of Independence to meet the fifteen-year-old who was taking photos with her dress.

“The moment was not in the script: there was the intention of bringing him closer to the Angel, that he leaned out, but when we saw the fifteen-year-old, I asked him if he would get off. The manager and the security man said that there was no way, but he said that in the years he had been coming, he had never had a chance.

“The quinceañera was crazy, but more so the mother. That is the essence of what Pesero is…, it was born with the illusion of being able to genuinely connect an artist with the Mexican public,” Paul Forat explained in an interview, head of Amazon Music in Mexico.

Each of the eight episodes lasts about 20 minutes and consists of an interview about a pesero, where they also sing, as well as a tour of a route in the City designed for them.

In addition to Chayanne, who in his chapter teaches “Torero” to dance and talks about how he feels about being called the “Dad of Mexico”, Måneskin, Ha*Ash, Camilo, Matisse, Gera Mx, Kenia Os and a surprise artist also participated .

To reach out to talent, Forat approached Sony Music, which was challenged to thoroughly explain the concept to foreigners like Italians Måneskin.

“We received them with a mariachi in the forum where we had started filming. They are used to being in Japan, Australia, but this Mexican part drove them crazy. They suggested singing with a mariachi, in 30 minutes we fixed it and they sang a version of ‘Beggin’ in Coyoacán.

“The Matisses recounted that recently they continued to use the pesero as a means of transportation, the contrasts (between Mexican and foreign artists) are very marked, but I think some felt like ambassadors and foreigners felt welcome,” recalled the executive.

Chayanne’s chapter will premiere on January 26 on the Amazon Music application, although it will also reach the brand’s YouTube channel; the musical performance will be on the YouTube channel of Sony Music, and the interview, on the Facebook of Los 40 and La Ke Buena.

Forat executive produced the albums Primera Fila by Thalía and Vicente Fernández, and worked closely with Shakira and Ricky Martin, but says that he had never felt as proud as with El Pesero Show, because he was able to propose something different.

“If you put someone on a pesero, you take them to a particular area, you talk to them about gastronomy and culture, all in the same program, and you also give them the opportunity to sing their songs in a version close to the Mexican regional, It’s like giving them the key to the City,” he said.
