With the exams in Latin and Greek, this year’s central Matura starts tomorrow. At the start of the school-leaving exam season, there are two smaller subjects on the program – around 2,100 students graduate in Latin and just 14 in Greek. For the majority of the around 42,000 graduates at AHS and vocational colleges (BHS) it will be on Wednesday the exams in mathematics.

German Matura on Friday

On Thursday there is a break because of the state holiday in Upper Austria. On May 5th, the German exams will follow, in which all students are required to take part. After the weekend, the written Matura will continue on May 8th with Spanish or the minority languages Hungarian, Slovenian and Croatian.

English will follow on May 9th, French on May 10th and Italian on May 11th. Most of the CoV simplifications of the past few years have been eliminated this year, but the biggest change has remained: the grade in the last class is included in the final grade – students with a satisfactory or better grade in the annual report are largely protected from failing.
