TCL took advantage of CES 2023 to update its various product lines, with news in the area of virtual and augmented reality. In addition, the company also showed Q and S series TVs, with different features and price ranges.

TCL RayNeo X2

The brand’s smart glasses use a colorful Micro LED display to show useful information such as navigation directions and content translation in real time. This panel has a brightness of 1,000 nits, which is good enough for indoor or outdoor use, according to TCL.

Its processing is led by a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2, combined with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. There is a 16 MP front camera, capable of capturing photos and recording in 1080p.

TCL NXTWear V

Even if it’s just a concept, NXTWear V already shows what TCL thinks about the future of VR headsets. The prototype is lightweight in construction at just 236 grams — less than half the weight of an Oculus Quest 2.

Other specifications of the item include the display with a pixel density of 1512 ppi and a viewing angle of 108 degrees. More details about the device — and its future versions — may appear over the next few months.

However, a TCL product focused on the present is the NXTWear S. It works in a much simpler way: it is a pair of glasses that, when connected to a cell phone or laptop, mirrors the content on a simulated screen of 130 inches.

Q and S series TVs

TVs have a high refresh rate

The base model of the Q series is the Q6, with support for greater color depth through Quantum Dot technology. Available in sizes from 50 to 75 inches, the TV is capable of delivering up to 66% more brightness than non-QLED sets — plus support for variable refresh rates up to 120 Hz.

The TCL Q7, on the other hand, gained refresh rates of up to 240 Hz, through the Game Accelerator mode. It still works at 120 Hz in normal mode, and has IMAX Enhanced certification for cinema images — in this case, sizes vary between 55 and 85 inches.

Mini LED ULTRA technology is present in the QM8, which has 2,300 dimming zones and dimensions from 65 to 98 inches. The maximum brightness is doubled compared to the previous generation, and the model also gained support for Wi-Fi 6.

Models feature thin bezel construction

Moving on to the S line of more affordable models, the S3 arrives with support for HDR. The TV has sizes from 32 to 43 inches, with 1080p resolution.

In addition, the S4 brings compatibility with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos, in addition to MEMC to offer more fluid images. In this case, the available dimensions are from 43 to 85 inches.

All TCL televisions for 2023 have gained a new look with thinner edges. Therefore, it is possible to achieve a design that is more integrated with the environments, regardless of the price range of the TV.

Prices and availability

The only product already with announced prices is the NXTWear S glasses, which will cost US$ 399 — equivalent to approximately R$ 2,091 in direct conversion.

Meanwhile, the NXTWear V and RayNeo X2 models will be distributed to select developers throughout this year. Pricing and availability information for the TVs has yet to be revealed.
